We kept the stock head unit as the source since it offered good clean signal out, has iPod connection, Navigation and built in hard drive. In the ashtray area we concealed the 3sixty sub-bass volume knob.
Door panels completed. We went with triple 5.25" mid-bass drivers and two 1" tweeters in the new door panels. Then installed an additional tweeter in the factory A-pillar location.
We modified the front door panels to add additional speakers. One speaker was not enough to keep up with demands of the customer and the additional bass that was created. Final test fitting of the modified door panel.
Original door panel before additional speakers were added.
No groceries allowed.
Finished enclosure covered with OE matching vinyl with the two amplifiers mounted.
Construction of the ported sub-enclosure for the three 12" woofers.
Front face of enclosure with fiberglass applied to give shape and contour.
Mounting bracket for the enclosure welded up from 1/8 steel stock for a solid & secure mounting platform.
Final test fit before finally mounting and covering take place.
While we had the back-end of the Q5 apart we smoked the taillights for that high-end look they deserve.
2010 Audi Q5
The unmistakable Q5 sets a new standard for dynamic crossover performance, design and luxury, only thing lacking is the OEM audio system. With a few modification we put this one on it’s own pedestal.
